Interior design in Chamberí, Almagro and Justicia starts from a simple idea: each Madrid neighbourhood has a personality, and a well-designed home converses with it rather than ignoring it. For us, interior design is not decorating at the end of the works, but thinking about architecture, light, materials and furniture as a single process from day one.
Three neighbourhoods, one criterion
Chamberí keeps the soul of old Madrid: classic façades, neighbourhood markets and a street life that calls for bright, warm interiors, with natural fibres and noble woods. Almagro is sophisticated discretion —converted palaces, interior gardens, an unexpected calm— and calls for serene interiors with refined lines. Justicia, by contrast, buzzes with galleries, theatres and the avant-garde: it welcomes colour, contemporary art and an expressiveness that in other neighbourhoods would be too much.
Our approach to interior design
In each project we integrate three layers: the architecture (layout, light, glass partitions and lattices that order the space), the bespoke furniture designed by the studio, and the pieces from Diago Home, our furniture and decoration brand. This is how we achieve homes that do not look decorated, but lived in from the start.
Bespoke furniture, the difference
Much of our homes' character comes from furniture designed for its exact place: an oak panel that integrates the television and orders the living room, a bookcase with a hidden door, a bench beside the window. They are not catalogue pieces, but solutions drawn for that home and that way of living. It is the kind of detail you don't notice at first glance, but that makes everything fit.
Art and colour, with judgement
We treat art as one more inhabitant of the space and colour as a decision, not an ornament. In a Justicia home such as Barquillo 26 —a cover of Interiores magazine— a green kitchen behind a classic arch lives alongside geometric floors and contemporary art. In Chamberí, by contrast, colour appears in soft doses, almost as a backdrop. The neighbourhood sets the tone; the criteria we always keep.
Light and materials
Light is a home's first material. Before choosing a single finish, we study where the sun comes in and how it will travel through the rooms across the day, and from there we decide on woods, marbles, textiles and paint. Good interior design shows as much in what it adds as in what it removes: restraint is often the most elegant decision.
